Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try?
I was looking for a gym with a coach who could motivate me, push me to my limits, and guide me in my fitness journey to achieve my goals. During my “no sweat” session, I had the opportunity to have a conversation with Matt, and I was genuinely impressed by his knowledge. Matt took the time to understand my fitness goals and helped me understand how he and his team of coaches can help me achieve them. Additionally, when I came across Matt’s LinkedIn profile and saw his impressive certifications, it further solidified my decision to join Widespread Fitness.
What was your athletic background before starting?
I loved staying active by running and participating in sports like cricket, ping-pong, and also hiking. Although I was interested in going to the gym, I felt a bit overwhelmed and unsure about using all the equipment correctly. During the COVID lockdown, I kept up with my fitness routine by trying out different workouts online, including HIIT. While HIIT was exciting at first and gave me a good workout, I eventually got bored doing the same 15-20 minute routine over and over again. And also I wasn’t sure if I was doing it correctly.
What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting?
I can clearly see my improvements in workouts like box jumps, kipping, wall balls, etc., just to name a few. Not only do I feel great after workouts, but I’ve also noticed positive changes in my physique especially shoulder area which I had never seen before.
What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting?
Just show-up ,listen to the coaches and ask questions when in doubt. They are here to support you and help you reach your goals!
What is your favorite and least favorite exercises / movement?
Sorry I have two favorites – Kipping pull-ups (though I am not good at it) and Hang power clean (love the technicality of it). And I don’t know why, but I just don’t like row machine exercise.
What is your most memorable moment so far?
The first time I did chest to the bar. It was one of the many things from the gym I have done for the first time in my life.
What do you like to do outside of the gym?
Camping, hiking, cooking.
What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal?
Chick-fil-A spicy deluxe sandwich
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I used to dream of becoming an athlete! Sports have always held a special place in my heart, and I was really passionate about excelling in them. While I didn’t end up pursuing a professional sports career, my love for athletics still plays a big role in my life.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My parents. They inspire me the most. Their hard work, unwavering support, and consistent dedication have always motivated me to pursue my dreams and overcome challenges. I am thankful for the values they taught me.
