Sandy Sutton

How old / young are you? 49 When did you join Widespread CrossFit? April 2016 What is your occupation? I’m currently unemployed but was in human resources for an engineering and construction company for over 20 years. Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? My husband, Scott, was a member and really liked it so I decided to try it. I was tired of the big box gyms. What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? I have worked out since I was a kid and played soccer in high school and college (rec). I gave up soccer as an adult and started playing tennis. And I have always been a runner. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? I have definitely seen an improvement in my strength and muscle tone. I also pay a lot more attention to what I’m eating than I used to. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? Don’t be intimidated. You can work out as hard as you want and anything can be modified. What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? My favorite moves are anything that involves cardio but especially double unders. Even though after three years I still suck at them. My least favorite move….so many to pick from…sled pushes and burpees are not much fun. And don’t make me jump, onto a box, over a bar; I hate jumping. What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? Beating Matt Kirkendall in core WOD contest. What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Spending time with my family and friends, playing tennis, going for a run with my running group. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Pizza and ice cream!! What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I was suspended in middle school for getting into a fist fight with my best friend. And, of course, she was my best friend again two hours later. Who or what inspires you the most? Working out and spending time with amazing, fit people. What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit? One pull-up…just one…some day.
