I’ll be 43 next month.
What is your occupation?
I’m a Business Systems Manager in The Aerospace and Defense industry.
When did you join Widespread Fitness?
I just hit my 18 month anniversary!
Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try?
I really like the small class size and supportive environment.
What was your athletic background before starting?
I worked with a trainer for several years before moving to CO then tried a few gyms here. I was most recently going to a gym that abruptly closed and left me looking for a new gym.
What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting?
I’ve definitely seen improvements in my strength and comfort level with the more technical lifts since joining Widespread. Joining has also been good for my mental health. I love walking into the gym and leaving the stress of the day behind and just focusing on getting through the workout.
What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting?
I would tell someone who is just starting to not be intimidated by your personal fitness level vs others at the gym. While the workouts can look daunting, everything is scalable and the coaches here always keep your safety in mind.
What is your favorite and least favorite exercises / movement?
My favorite exercises are definitely the Olympic lifts or strength in general. I’m still trying to embrace cardio and burpees.
What is your most memorable moment so far?
My most memorable moment so far is completing a couple of the CrossFit Open workouts.
What do you like to do outside of the gym?
Outside of the gym I enjoy walking and hiking, traveling, trying different breweries and restaurants, and reading.
What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal?
My favorite “cheat” food is dessert. Definitely have a sweet tooth!
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
People would be surprised to know that I worked for a railroad for 17 years and have operated a train locomotive.
Who or what inspires you the most?
People who has been through really tough times and not let it break their spirit.
What is one goal you would like to accomplish?
I really want to get one (or more!) unassisted pull-ups. A close second goal is higher box jumps.
