How old / young are you? 44 What is your occupation? Nurse Home Visitor for young first time moms When did you join Widespread Fitness? March 2021 Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try? Needed community and a challenge after a year in quarantine. Plus, it was close by and I was always curious about went on in there! What was your athletic background before starting? Not much truthfully. I played some intramural sports in HS but haven’t “competed” in anything in 25 years! I’ve lifted and kept my body moving in different ways over the years, but never anything like CrossFit. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting? My endurance has improved for sure. I haven’t seen a difference on the scale, but I have in the numbers I can lift! I’m SOOO close to being able to do a “pretty” toes to bar, and while I can’t link them, I can do double unders! What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting? Start! That is true to almost anything in life. Lean in and see where the journey takes you. Don’t compare yourself with others in the gym (or anywhere in life), measure your success from where YOU start. What is your favorite and least favorite exercises / movement? I’m not a huge fan of anything “wide grip” but I really like the strict moves like dead lifts and back squats. What is your most memorable moment so far? I love chasing people around! Michael T, and Tom S run faster because of me! What do you like to do outside of the gym? I love to hit the slops with my family, go hiking, hang with my kids and sit in my hot tub. Anyone who needs a recovery soak is welcome to join! What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? I LOVE margaritas and tacos. What is something people would be surprised to know about you? People might not know that I was in the Navy and fixed airplanes for four years or that I served with the Peace Corps for two years in Honduras. Who or what inspires you the most? The people who just keep going. Not the people who jump the highest, or run the farthest. The people who get to the mailbox when getting to the front door was hard. The people who show up and smile (even when the don’t have any teeth). What is one goal you would like to accomplish? I would LOVE to be able to bang out 10 strict pull-ups! I can do two….
