How old / young are you? 46 yrs What is your occupation? Information Technology Recruiter When did you join Widespread CrossFit? July 2015 Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? I needed strength training after rehabbing from a car accident. What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? I practiced yoga almost every day and was a former CorePower Instructor. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? I sleep better, lost inches in my waistline (thank you Nutrition Challenge!), and have stronger toned muscles. It’s a lot easier to move a piano now too. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? Measure yourself by your own stick. Be patient with your progress. At times we can be our own worst critic remember to celebrate the small victories. Some days the hardest part can be just showing up and that’s ok, it gets easier with time. What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? Most favorite- Oh dear so many favorites to choose from…..the sled pulls, only because of how it feels once you’ve stopped. I feel a huge sense of accomplishment. Least favorite would be the damn jump rope-it kills me every time…..it’s on my goal list. What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? Getting my first pull-up……….in elementary school during our fitness test, the gym teacher would loudly announce after trying for a pull-up “ that’s another goose egg for Allshouse (my maiden name)” so it felt pretty darn good to finally hit that goal! What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Practice yoga, play golf, mountain bike, go hiking with my husband and kids, and attend a lot of sporting events for my 3 children. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? A huge plate of nachos with melted cheese! (Which I still haven’t indulged in yet since the start of the nutrition challenge) What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I am half Hispanic Who or what inspires you the most? The athletes I see at the gym- no matter what their level of fitness, no one ever quits and people keep showing up day after day. What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit I would like to eventually get to the point where I have built up so much strength that I never have to see my chiropractor again.
