How old / young are you? 16 years old! What is your occupation? Student/Lifeguard When did you join Widespread CrossFit? I joined in May 2016, my mom had already joined and she encouraged me to do it as well. Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? I had heard about it from various people, and thought it would be a fun challenge. A friend of mine has been doing it since we were 13 and he really inspired me to try it. What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? I had run in track (and still do!), and dabbled in cross country for a season. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? I’m definitely more muscular!!! When I tried on prom dresses the other day, I had to get a bigger size to make it fit over my back. I also have a lot more endurance for running. I’ve gotten better at WOD’s, and can now carry my boyfriend up the stairs! What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? Keep going. Sometimes it’s hard, but it is so, so worth it. If you don’t want to come one day, still come. Sign up for the Open and for the In-House Competition. They’re both great ways to challenge yourself. Do your best, and be happy with it. Don’t beat yourself up just because you didn’t get a time you were shooting for. You still worked out! What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? Favorite: Squat Cleans, Burpees, Power Cleans, Box Squats, Overhead Squats, Running Least Favorite: Wall Balls, Burpee Box Jumps, Lateral Burpees, ROWING (I really hate rowing…) What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? It’s between two moments for me…when I got my PR for front squat or when I won my division for the In-House Competition. Both of these moments reminded me of the community we have at WSCF, as well as how strong I’ve become. What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Talk about CrossFit. Haha, I’m kidding (mostly). I also like to read, write, spend time with my friends/family/boyfriend, ski, run, and binge-watch Netflix. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Can I make this an entire paragraph? No? Ok. My two favorite cheat foods are pesto pasta, and DOUGHNUTS. Especially Krispy Kreme’s (the Cadillac of doughnuts). What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I want to travel to all seven continents before I’m 30! Who or what inspires you the most? Everyone who does CrossFit. You all inspire me to do better. What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit? Be able to Rx every workout by my 18th birthday. Also, to be a coach in college.
