How old / young are you? 26 years old What is your occupation? Science teacher at Northglenn High School When did you join Widespread CrossFit? May 2016 Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? My brother (Andrew) convinced me to give it a try What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? Not much experience in the gym, but 22 years of playing soccer and various other sports. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? I have seen a big difference in my strength and endurance not only in the gym but also on the soccer field. I am now able to do “simple” things in the gym (push-ups, pull-ups etc.) better than I have ever been able to in my life. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? I would say “it gets easier” but every WOD kicks your butt no matter what! Otherwise, always come in to the gym with a good attitude because you’re always working out with great people. Listen to the advice and motivation from the coaches, they’ll always get you through the tough workouts. What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? Favorite movements would have to be the power clean, and box jumps. Least favorite movements are, by far, rowing and burpees. What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? The Halloween workout when Andrew and I dressed as Mario and Luigi. It was hard to get through a workout without laughing every time we had to do any type of movement in those costumes! What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Outside of CrossFit I enjoy playing soccer, playing the guitar, exploring new breweries with friends, and hanging out with family. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Definitely pizza. What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I can sometimes have a bad temper when it comes to being competitive. Oops. Who or what inspires you the most? My parents! They’re both the best people that I know and am lucky to have them by my side with everything that I do. What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit? I am shooting for multiple strict pull-ups here in the near future!
