Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try?
I finished my first half marathon in April, 2022, and really missed having a community to exercise along and being motivated by great coaches and fellow athletes. After some searching and trying, I walked into Widespread Fitness and talked to Matt, and have stayed ever since.
What was your athletic background before starting?
I became a routine gym goer since July 2017 and joined programs in different gyms as my family moved along the country.
What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting?
I have become a better athlete both physically and mentally. I am setting and accomplishing new goals I didn’t imagine before.
What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting?
Find your own pace and edge, and go with the flow. Day by day you build a stronger self.
What is your favorite and least favorite exercises / movement?
I like them all. Nothing is tough if you don’t dread about it. I can’t do handstand pushups or kipping pull-up yet – still working on them.
What is your most memorable moment so far?
The summer running program was a blast!
What do you like to do outside of the gym?
I enjoy running outdoors, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal?
They used to be cheesecake and vanilla ice cream, but after I finished Kari’s nutrition program last August I don’t have a cheat food anymore – nothing is a cheat food if it’s in moderation
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
I like to set goals
Who or what inspires you the most?
The first time we went to Pikes Peak in 2020, we saw bikers in their 60-70s near the peak. That image still inspires me to this day.
What is one goal you would like to accomplish?
For 2024: Pikes Peak Ascent (Half Marathon)
