Athlete of the MonthDecember
How old / young are you? I turned 40 in April. What is your occupation? Technology Sales – Internet Performance & Security When did you join Widespread Fitness? September of 2021 Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try? I simply wanted to get in good shape. I was looking for challenging workouts in an environment that would push me and keep me motivated. What was your athletic background before starting? I played about every sport there is through high school, except hockey. But, I have picked up learning to play hockey the last couple years. These days I just play golf and a bit of tennis and hockey. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting? I have gotten stronger and more balanced, particularly in my lower body. I think most importantly, I have an improved mind-set as it relates to my ability to perform and complete a difficult workout. Mentally I feel accomplished and sharp each time I leave the gym. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting? Stay consistent with the workouts early on. I found them to be rather difficult when I first started. They still aren’t easy, but your confidence will grow with the more classes you attend and push through. And listen to the Coaches. What is your favorite and least favorite exercises / movement? Favorite = Floor Press and Jump Rope Least = Burpees What is your most memorable moment so far? I had been at Widespread for a few months and was gradually improving with cardio exercises. We had a relatively long run at the end of a tough workout. I started the run at the back of the pack. I found an extra gear mid-way through the run to finish 2nd overall and just behind someone who is a strong runner. My mentality shifted on that one run to where I knew I was getting stronger and faster and could hang/compete with most of the other athletes at Widespread. What do you like to do outside of the gym? I like to golf and travel with my family. And golf while traveling with my Family. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Beer and Pizza. What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I love 80s movies and Soundtracks. Rocky IV, Rad, and The Karate Kid are a few of my favorites. And Kenny Loggins is a close 3rd behind the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam for all-time bands. Who or what inspires you the most? My 3-year old Son, Thomas. I am excited to see him every morning. I want to maintain quality health and ‘stay young’ as he grows up. What is one goal you would like to accomplish? I want to be able to knock out several pull-ups without an assist from the bands.
