How old / young are you? 46 What is your occupation? Project Manager for Barrios Technology (Houston based) working on Sierra Space contract in Louisville When did you join Widespread Fitness? Jan 2019 Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try? Well…after meeting Matt and Kari, Forest immediately peed on my foot then was further enticed to join with my first workout “Death by Burpee” so how could I say no? What was your athletic background before starting? I played basketball, soccer and football in high school. Played intramural sports and lifted weights in college. Started CrossFit in my mid 30’s and have continued off and on since. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting? I just feel great the next day (despite soreness). I have more energy and can hang with my kids which is the main reason I do Crossfit. I’ve noticed I sleep better and tend to eat healthier as well. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting? Start slow don’t rush it. You will get stronger but it takes time. What is your favorite and least favorite exercises / movement? My favorite exercises are hang power cleans and deadlifts. My least favorite exercise is running more than 200m What is your most memorable moment so far? Summer 2019 sled workout. Probably closest I came to throwing up during a workout. Brutal! What do you like to do outside of the gym? Spend time with my kids (J.R. 7, Ellie 5), coach soccer, ski, watch professional and collegiate sports (Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, Texas A&M), and beer w/ friends. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Frozen margarita! What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I’m working on the next generation spaceplane “Dream Chaser” right here in Louisville. Scheduled to launch end of 2022. Who or what inspires you the most? My father. His work ethic, leadership, and perseverance has really shaped who I am today. He lost his father at 11 years old, worked his way through high school, was a collegiate All-American swimmer, successful engineer, gave us the experience of living in four countries, and survived leukemia in 2017. What is one goal you would like to accomplish? Toes-to-Bar in a workout. I can do a few but not with other movements.
