When did you join Widespread CrossFit? July 2016
Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? My fiance talked me into it. I was bored with going to the rec center and doing the same old things. I had tried the different classes, but after awhile they were all the same and I lost interest. I needed something different to push me and keep me motivated.
What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? 10 years of gymnastics growing up, then a mix of track, softball, and skiing.
What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? i have definitely seen more muscle definition. I love being able to see my progress in the weight I am able to lift. I also feel so much better overall.
What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? It’s really not as scary as it seems. The workouts aren’t as crazy as it’s reputation, and it’s always OK to scale to your comfort level. Also, try out the box first. For me, the friendship and support of the other athletes and the coaches is what makes me keep coming back most of all.
What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? Least favorite is definitely a tie between wall balls and rowing. Favorite is deadlifts and handstands.
What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? In the CrossFit open this year I did the workout in front of everyone. It consisted of both wall balls and rowing. I felt like passing out during the row, but the support from the crowd helped me push through.
What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Hiking, skiing, and walking the dog. i recently started volunteering at the longmont humane society, and I love helping doggies find their forever home.
What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Wine and cheese with good crusty bread
What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I’m a natural blonde and had almost platinum hair naturally in high school. it’s darkened quite a bit over the years, but is still a dirty blonde if I let it go.
Who or what inspires you the most? My fiance Ryan. Since meeting him he constantly makes me want to be better at whatever I do, and just to be a better person.
What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit? Gain confidence in my body, and know that I can take on anything.
