How old / young are you? 52 What is your occupation? I’m a Physician Assistant and I specialize in Urology. When did you join Widespread CrossFit? August 2018. Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? I joined the “CrossFit” Alpha class at Lifetime fitness to add more weight training to my workouts. I had no idea what it was! This is where I met Amy Poshusta! What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? I was a high school and college cheerleader. Believe it or not, it’s pretty aerobic. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? I like the muscle definition you get in CrossFit. You learn a toughness that I’ve never experienced. Matt Fraser says,” Today I will do what others won’t so tomorrow I will do what others can’t.” This really hits home when you’re 52! What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? Know your limits and don’t get discouraged. What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? Sled pulls! Yes, pulls and not pushes! Doug makes weird horse noises when we do these. What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? I completed the Cross Fit Open last year. As a mom, I’ve been on the sidelines watching my kids play sports. It’s fun to finally be the athlete. What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? My sons, Andrew and Will, are grown! I have two demanding Golden Retrievers that I love to walk. I spend a lot of time working in the yard (that my dogs destroy). What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Pizza and chocolate chip cookies. I haven’t had either since January thanks to Kari! What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I’m a professional flutist. My mom is a professional pianist and taught music. I had no choice! Who or what inspires you the most? I want to be the best person I can be for my husband. I’ve been married to Doug for 25 years and he is my best friend. What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit? I would like to accomplish an unassisted pull-up. I’m closer than I was a year ago!
