Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try?
I wanted to build strength, after about a week I noticed that it was also building my confidence! I was sold!
What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? I was a swimmer in high school and college.
What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit?
It would be hard to do Crossfit and not see a positive change in your body composition, along with physical health I have seen a difference in my mental health. This is my outlet and an opportunity for me to push myself and do things I never thought I could.
What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit?
That you will have workouts that you love and excel at and workouts that will crush your soul, experiencing both will build your mental and physical strength. Put your ego aside and trust the process.
What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement?
I try really hard not to have favorites! (Even though the sled hurts my feelings) Being an A.M. CrossFitter I don’t like the idea of anything like that setting the tone for my morning. So I try to go in with a good outlook no matter what the workout is.
What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far?
My first muscle up. I had worked really hard to achieve that illusive unicorn movement and finally got it!
What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?
I could sit on a patio with music and a cocktail all day every day!
What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal?
Chips and salsa, they get me every time.
Who or what inspires you the most?
I am inspired by people daily, seeing an athlete accomplish something in the gym they didn’t think they could do, or pushing themselves to the limit. A coworker creating a beautiful head of hair. Seeing random acts of kindness. There are bits of inspirational moments that I appreciate every single day.
What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit?
From competing in Crossfit and burning myself out, my goal has drastically changed. I would say now that I have the goal of pushing hard in workouts and taking it day by day. By trusting the process I will improve my physical strength and aerobic capacity.
