How old / young are you? 34 What is your occupation? I am a pilot for Frontier Airlines. I love my job and the fact that I get to meet people all over the world. When did you join Widespread CrossFit? Fall of 2016. First workout: “Fight Gone Bad”. I couldn’t get rid of my cough all day but decided to come back. Why did you decide to give CrossFit a try? Widespread stared me in the eyes as I filled up my gas tank. My wife Nikki and I regularly ran and lifted weights at the Paul Derda gym but we wanted something different. What was your athletic background before starting CrossFit? Several sports in high school, softball in college. Since then, cardio and weight lifting. What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting CrossFit? I had not experienced olympic lifting before CrossFit. Since joining, I feel my running endurance has improved as well as ability to increase weights each week. What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting CrossFit? Treat every morning like Christmas. Don’t look at todays workout. Just show up and be surprised. Also, every movement can be tailored by weight or movement. Matt and Kari have great ideas to improve everyone’s lifting ability. What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit exercises / movement? Favorite: Bent Over rows and American Kettlebell Swings Not so much: Squat Thruster. And any movement with an AMRAP. (Just tell me how many burpees you want!) What is your most memorable CrossFit moment so far? Last years in house competition; the first that Nikki and I participated in. What do you like to do outside of CrossFit? Travel, skiing, cooking and hanging out with family. What is your favorite “cheat” food or meal? Chinese food and Neapolitan Pizza What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I lived for part of my childhood in Belgium. Who or what inspires you the most? Well my wife likes the look of Thor. I have a long way to go but will keep working towards my goals. What is one goal you would like to accomplish through CrossFit? In two years, I would like to be capable of RXing every movement. I have enjoyed CrossFit and am excited to see my strength continue to grow.
