How old / young are you?
I’m 37 years old.
What is your occupation?
My favorite job is being a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters, Finley and Linden. My brother and I also run a family business (Golden Railings) together.
When did you join Widespread Fitness?
September 2025.
Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try?
I feel like the stars finally aligned! I’ve known about Widespread since moving to Broomfield and even grabbed paleo meals here back in 2016. After having my second baby, I wanted to lift heavy again, but was limited by the short preschool schedule. Then my sweet husband (a little tipsy) won some private training sessions for me in a charity auction, and that was my kickstart to finally get back into the gym.
What was your athletic background before starting?
I grew up dancing competitively but found my love for weightlifting during a high school gym class. The football coach let me join football and wrestling lifting sessions. I also trained with figure competition models. While in college at CSU, I started CrossFit in 2011, following a coach who specialized in Olympic lifting. I did it for 3 years, even during grad school, but burnout hit when I got obsessed with leaderboard scores and completing the workouts as prescribed. I also joined my Cross Country Club to try to get over my hatred for running. Later on I also got into boutique fitness, Pure Barre, OrangeTheory, SoulCycle, Pilates, and even became a Pure Barre instructor! After my first baby, I returned to CrossFit but got pregnant again six months in. My second pregnancy and birth felt totally different thanks to CrossFit. After a few years off due to life and childcare, I found my way to Widespread, which feels most like home.
What changes have you seen since starting?
My confidence has been the biggest thing that has changed. After two kids, I felt un-athletic, but regaining skills like pull-ups and box jumps makes me feel a little bit more like my old self.
What advice would you give to someone starting?
Just keep showing up. Come when you’re sore, scared, or life feels overwhelming. Consistency builds the habit. CrossFit humbles everyone, so ask questions, make friends, and the rest falls into place. For CrossFitters that are two to three years in if you’re obsessing over weights or leaderboards, pause, refocus on why you started, and find your fun again. Or set a fit goal outside of the gym and let Crossfit be the thing that compliments it!
Favorite and least favorite exercises?
Favorite: Anything with a barbell and gymnastics movements.
Least favorite: Wall balls.
Most memorable moment so far?
Doing the Friday Night Lights! Even though I did not feel ready athletically ready to do something like that I quickly learned that’s not what the open at Widespread is about. It was so fun to do something out of my comfort zone and have my daughters cheer me on doing something that scared and challenged me. I honestly used to hate the CrossFit Open because it felt like an event that only celebrated the best for destroying their bodies doing a workout over and over again. I really appreciate how Matt and Kari changed that focus to celebrating everyone doing their best as a community.
What do you like to do outside the gym?
I still sneak in boutique classes like Pure Barre and Pilates and love dancing. Mostly though, I’m outside with my kids at playgrounds or pools.
Something people would be surprised to know about you?
I secretly want to get a doctorate in sports psychology to work with young athletes, combining my background in child development and counseling. I would also love to go back to school for photography.
Who or what inspires you the most?
My daughters inspire me the most because I want to show them the importance of always learning, growing, and trying new and difficult things. I want them to know that women can be strong, capable, and powerful.
Heather Jackson is also a huge inspiration to me. I seriously hope that when my daughters are grown, I’m even half as athletic as she is! She’s still doing all the things I’m trying to model for my daughters; taking on new challenges. I love that she not only works out alongside her adult daughters but truly keeps up with them. And honestly, how cool is it that my gym bestie is 20 years older than me? CrossFit has a special way of creating friendships that might never happen otherwise.
My best friend, Danielle Trujillo, is another person I look up to. She’s a complete badass CrossFitter (even competed in regionals), a primary care doctor, and a mom of three. She proves that even with a demanding career and family, it’s still possible to prioritize your mental and physical health. And really, all the moms at our gym inspire me. I’m amazed by how they continue to show up despite the chaos and stress of motherhood. We might all pee ourselves a little during doubleunders, but we keep going and keep crushing workouts. And of course, all the men at the gym inspire me too…mostly because I just want to squat snatch more than you. I’ll get you someday.
One goal you want to accomplish?
My biggest goal in coming back is to become a lifetime athlete. I want to be lifting heavy, moving dynamically, and staying capable well into my 50s and beyond. Right now, I’m focused on getting some skills back, like toes-to-bar and handstand push-ups. Eventually, I’d love to surpass my college self by achieving things like a muscle-up and finally making my double-unders consistently reliable.
More than any specific movement or milestone, my goal is to maintain strength, power, and athleticism for the long haul. I want to keep proving to myself and to my daughters that it’s never too late to keep learning, growing, and getting stronger.
