How old/young are you?
I am 52 years old tomorrow; hard to believe it.
What is your occupation?
I am a water resource engineer for a consulting company that I am part owner in. Water is the next gold in Colorado!
When did you join Widespread Fitness?
I joined Widespread Fitness in October 2025.
Why did you decide to give Widespread Fitness a try?
Joined WF because of the small size, ability to know everyone’s name, and also because the workouts are always something different.
What was your athletic background before starting?
My athletic background has been focused around mountain biking. I love being in the woods, cycling, and hiking. Have tried gyms in the past but never really stuck because they’ve been too mundane.
What changes in your health, physique, and overall performance have you seen since starting?
My health, physique, and performance have basically improved by being more well-rounded. The workouts have challenged me to go outside my typical lower body workouts. Also, the variety in workouts has helped reduce inflammation in some areas of my body that were previously overworked.
What advice would you give to someone with regards to starting?
Advice I would give someone starting is not to be intimidated by the athletes. Just go at your own pace, and use the group workouts as a means to challenge yourself without trying to match others.
What is your favorite and least favorite exercises/movement?
Favorite exercises are anything that leave me sore the next day! So that’s deadlifts and front squats on the regular. My least favorite is kipping pull ups (can’t get the motion) and anything with a snatch grip (shoulder inflexibility).
What is your most memorable moment so far?
Most memorable moment to date is when I showed up for a group class but was only one signed up. Matt pushed me and rode me hard. Nowhere to hide when you’re alone in the class!
What do you like to do outside of the gym?
Outside of the gym I like to drink coffee on my deck, hang out with my family (two teenage boys, and my wife), and walk my dogs (rescue lab and toy poodle).
Who or what inspires you the most?
My 15-year old son inspires me the most at this point in my life. He has faced a lot of adversity, and the growth and improvement he is working on is amazing. He is in the back of my mind whenever the workouts get tough!
What is one goal you would like to accomplish?
One goal I want to accomplish is to convince my oldest teenage son to get his butt into the gym with me. That would be amazing to share something like working out with him.
